Helping to assess the risks of diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, stroke & dementia, the NHS Health Check is widely used. THERAPYAUDIT introduces TAHealthCheck which provides digital support for the collection of NHS Health Check data. Diabetes, heart and kidney disease and stroke together make up one third of the difference in life expectancy between the most deprived areas of England and the rest of the country. Additionally, the cost of social and health care from the rise in levels of obesity, type 2 diabetes and dementia makes the prevention and risk reduction of these conditions key drivers of the programme.

A NHS Health Check is an important step for many people towards improving their health and becoming more aware of what they can do to lead a healthier life.

NHS Health Check can help lower people’s risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, type 2 diabetes and some types of dementia. The NHS Health Check process invites adults in England, aged 40 to 74, for a free health assessment that aims to identify those at risk of serious, but potentially avoidable conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
TAHealthCheck is designed to assist health commissioning bodies implement NHS Health Check programmes locally, in line with Public Heath England’s Best Practice Guidance, as revised in March 2016. TAHealthCheck is the latest addition to the THERAPYAUDIT public health portal that includes TACCARD and TASTART, which have been widely adopted as part of C-Card condom distribution and Healthy Start vitamin D supplementation schemes throughout England.
“Pharmacies already know TACCARD and appreciate its ease of use, so when we wanted to fast-track NHS Health Check in the Borough, TAHealthCheck was the obvious choice for us.”

TAHealthCheck is web-based and requires only a compatible browser at the place of testing – fast-track delivery of NHS Health Check software with no installation needed! A series of prompts guides the tester through the NHS Health Check process, collating individual test results, including blood pressure, BMI and cholesterol, as well as responses to lifestyle questions. TAHealthCheck analyses the results to create an overall risk assessment and produces a summary of the result for the individual and their GP, as well as automating the paperwork required by the commissioning authority.
